HRSC Cadets on TV for Children In Need
' ); document.write( '
' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( 'HRSC Cadets appeared on TV during the recent Children In Need night. A big turnout of Cadets, parents and helpers at Beaulieu Motor Museum on Friday 20th November, saw them on national TV. A fun night and a fitting reward for the 1000 collected by blockading the river.' ); document.write( '

' ); document.write( 'One of our Cadets is enjoying the sailing so much that he is trying to convince his family move to Hamble from Bath! That way he can take part in the Wednesday evening Cadet sailing as well as the weekends.' ); document.write( '

Swallows and Amazons - Cadet Camp
' ); document.write( '
' ); document.write( 'What a great weekend for our adventure up River.' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '
I think we topped about 70, plus the visitors we had.' ); document.write( '

' ); document.write( 'Thank you to all of you that arrived Friday evening so we were ready to depart early Saturday morning.

Towing Oppies

Rigging boats at Upper Hamble Country ParkWe towed the boats to the landing stage at the Upper Hamble County Park and then rigged and sailed to the camp. Water pistols were the order of the day. Thank you to Jonty Yonge and Luke Saunders for helping me drive Retriever up the last stages of the River.

The convoy arrived at the camp site at about 11.30 am tents were soon erected. Kids swam in the River and when the tide left us swam in the mud!Retreiver

' ); document.write( 'During the evening three parents got out their guitars and were soon joined by Tom and Callum to entertain us.' ); document.write( '

' ); document.write( 'On Sunday we were again blessed with a hot sunny day after a cold night - Elaine and myself slept on Retriever which was lovely and warm.' ); document.write( '

' ); document.write( 'We had a surprise visit at lunch time Liz Jowett founder of the Flagstaff Trust arrived to join us for a picnic lunch. The new Commodore Peter Slimming presented her with a plant for her garden (picture on the front page of the web).' ); document.write( '

' ); document.write( 'Peter tried out his new canoe that he had built and I felt was slightly lucky not to get dunked by the kids.' ); document.write( '

Peggy SwimmingWe then had a ladies race in the Foxers this was more of a drift as there was no wind. Suzy Hamel drifted over the line first. The Dads then had a practice race as a warm up for the Foxer Nationals - not sure who won this as I was swimming with the kids and capsizing Dom who had joined in the race in a Pico - sorry for this Dom.
' ); document.write( 'Several of us intrepid explorers went River Walking at low water. We soon realised we should have taken an Oppie to jump into as the water was very deep as was the mud! Dom was very gallant and gave several of us ladies a carry across the mud and deep water.' ); document.write( '

' ); document.write( 'The atmosphere in the camp was electric everyone mucking in taking it in turns to make tea and bacon buttes, sharing food (and a glass or two of wine).' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '' ); document.write( '
A rainy startMonday morning we woke to rain and no wind. Elaine and I cooked bacon and eggs in the cabin of Retriever (don't tell Jamie). Due to the lack of wind we decided to tow the boats all the way back to Hamble so we lost out on the annual capsizing under the bridges.
' ); document.write( 'We arrived back at Hamble in sunshine early afternoon most of us exhausted but very happy with the lovely weekend we had all had.' ); document.write( '

' ); document.write( 'I for one am looking forward to next year.' ); document.write( '
